The Red Seal program is a partnership between the federal government and provinces and territories, which are responsible for apprenticeship training and trade certification in their jurisdictions.
Tradespersons who have successfully passed the Red Seal examination receive a Red Seal endorsement on their provincial/territorial trade certificate. The Red Seal, when affixed to a provincial or territorial trade certificate, indicates that a tradesperson has demonstrated the knowledge required for the national standard in that trade. The Red Seal endorsement promotes excellence to employers, instills pride in skilled workers, and facilitates labour mobility. Certification and Red Seal endorsement of a tradesperson can be confirmed with the provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority that issued the Red Seal.
Ironworkers are involved in erecting buildings and bridges as well as other structures. They follow blueprints to hoist and install structural steel as well as precast concrete, concrete reinforcing materials and other metals used in construction. They set up the framework of a building by positioning steel girders or other structural elements and then bolting them into place. Ironworkers are usually employed by construction companies and sub-contractors and their wages depend on a variety of factors such as demand and skill levels.
Boilermakers are a team of Internationally recognized skilled trades professionals who build, erect, test, repair and maintain pressure vessels and pressure related equipment in the Industrial sector. They are employed in power generating stations (thermal, nuclear hydro), petrochemical refineries/upgraders, pulp and paper mills, shipyards, and fabrication shops across Canada working on pollution control devices, boilers, tanks, furnaces, towers, reactors, heat exchangers and many other liquid-tight, high-pressure equipment. Boilermaker Welders require pressure welder certification.
There are several welding, fabrication, technician and engineering programs throughout the province. Check out some of our partners below for more information.
