Trade Qualifiers

Documents Required

  • Trade Qualification Application Form
  • Verification of Trade Experience (VTE) Form
  • Employer Declaration Letter
  • The resume describing the projects and type of work shall match the trade experiences in the VTE form

Fees

NU does not collect fees for the TQ process

Requirements

  • Red Seal multiple-choice exam
  • Practical exam meeting national benchmarks
  • 7200 Hours of training

Note that NU does not have testing site in our territory.

NU utilizes AB’s assistance for practical testing

Notes

  • Verification of Trade Experience (VTE) form must be filled out by current and precious supervising journeypersons, describing the TQ’s experience in the trade.
  • No - Credit for CWB Qualifier Tickets

Training Provided

Voluntary training plan after 1st failed exam attempt. mandatory upgrade is required after 2nd failed attempt.

NU started to work with Ashton College (BC) and utilise their online/distant preparatory courses for half a dozen Red Seal trades. All cost associated with these prep courses are the responsibility of the TQ applicants.

These hours are trades hours that are approved by the local Apprenticeship body through their process. For more information on how hours are processed and managed in your province, contact your local Apprenticeship center.
